Can you treat me?

Dr Darvish is a Board Certified Psychiatric Physician, trained at one of the country’s best hospitals and academic institutions. As such, she has expertise in treating a wide variety of psychiatric conditions.

RBP is best suited to treat conditions including: anxiety, panic attacks, depression, sleep disturbances/insomnia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, bipolar disorder, and post traumatic stress disorder. Beyond diagnoses, Dr Darvish can help navigate periods of transition, adjustment, interpersonal difficulties, or general growth towards your goals.

There are, however, some limitations of being in solo-private practice. As such, people who have a history of recent suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, psychiatric hospitalization, active severe substance use disorders, or severe psychosis, would benefit from a higher level of mental health care beyond what can be offered at RBP. You can look into local resources for more information: Carolina Outreach.

What can I expect for treatment approach?

At RBP, you can expect a personalized treatment plan specifically tailored to you, based on quality expertise in psychiatry and evidenced-based medicine.

Dr Darvish takes a well-rounded, holistic and thorough approach to your mental health. We will work on understanding who you are as a person, as well as areas where you are struggling, and what your long term goals are. We will discuss potential psychotropic medications as well as non-pharmacological means of improving your mental health.

Do you offer therapy?

Yes! Therapy is an important part of treatment and will be integrated into your care either during regular medication management follow ups or through a distinct round of psychotherapy. Dr Darvish has training in multiple focuses of psychotherapy and has adapted an eclectic style where we will implement various strategies to create a therapy experience tailored for you.

We are able to offer both individual and couple's therapy - however, there are limited spots available.

Why should I see a Board Certified Psychiatric Physician?

With all the psychiatric providers offering services to patients, it is easy to be confused about what a psychiatric physician can offer. Let’s clarify.

Psychiatric physicians are medical doctors who not only completed medical school to become a physician, they then completed specialized psychiatry training through residency to gain an expertise in psychiatry. This entails: bachelor’s degree, 4 years of medical training at medical school, followed by 4 years of psychiatry residency. Beyond that, Board Certified physicians are required to pass an exam that demonstrates their knowledge, and keep up with the new and latest research.

The level of training that physicians are required to complete prior to graduation far exceeds that of other non-physician providers. This means that psychiatric physicians are uniquely qualified to understand the nuances of your mental health and come up with specialized and evidence based treatment options.

Is Dr Darvish a Board Certified Psychiatric Physician?

Yes! Dr Darvish’s credentials:

University of California, San Diego - BS in Physiology and Neuroscience
University of California, Irvine - MD (Medical Degree)
Duke University - Psychiatry Residency
Board Certified at American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology

Dr Darvish is also an Assistant Consulting Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University School of Medicine.

Please note that any work through RBP is strictly not affiliated with any medical or hospital system.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not accept insurance.

RBP is a solo-private practice geared towards giving you mental health care that is thorough, excellent, and available to you. Working with insurance companies severely limits our ability to engage in the type of quality care that we seek for you.

Some insurance companies will provide partial reimbursements for out-of-network claims. We are happy to provide invoices in the form of a ‘super-bill’ for you to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. We cannot guarantee that you will be reimbursed by insurance.

Do you accept Medicare?

We cannot accept patients who have Medicare, whether you intend on using it or not. If you have Medicare, please reach out to them to see the available resources for you.

Services and fees

Initial evaluation 60-90 minutes - $450
Regular follow up appointment 25-30 minutes - $250
Longer follow up appointment or therapy appointment up to 60 minutes - $450

Longer appointments and administrative fees will be charged for any work that takes greater than 5 minutes and will be charged at $115 for increments of 15 minutes. Examples of this include request for letters, forms, telephone calls.

What if I can’t make the appointment?

That’s okay, it happens! To make sure that we are able to reliably offer care to our patients, we require 48 hours prior notice for any appointment cancellation. This can be in the form of a voicemail or a secure message. No-shows will be charged at the regular rate of the appointment booked.

Can I see you over video?

Yes! RBP is primarily a telehealth based practice where we will connect via a secure HIPAA compliant video platform.

There are a few situations that will require an in-person appointment, for example if the requirements of prescribing a controlled substance changes. In this case, we can set up in person appointment.

Can you prescribe medications?

Yes. Dr Darvish will discuss risks, benefits and recommendations of psychotropic medications with you during your appointment.

Can you prescribe controlled substances?

Yes, Dr Darvish is able to prescribe controlled substances after a thorough evaluation and determination of whether this would be an appropriate and safe option.

Previously, physicians were required to see patients in-person with regular frequency in order to prescribe a controlled substance. Since COVID, however, there have been evolving regulations that have expanded the ability to prescribe controlled substances via telehealth.

The current requirements state that any establishment of care prior 11/2024 is eligible for continuation of controlled substances via telehealth. Establishing care afterwards will likely require an in person appointment at a frequency yet to be determined. If that is required, we will be able to schedule an in person appointment at an office in the Raleigh, Cary or Durham area.

If it is determined that a controlled substance is warranted, we will send a controlled substance agreement form for you to review and sign.
